![]() ![]() Since 1928, the tournament has taken place at the Roland Garros Stadium. The Stade Francais hosted the French Championships in 19. The competition was also held in Bordeaux in 1909 before shifting to the Racing Club de France from 1910-1924 and later 1926. ![]() The French Open was first held at the Societe Sport de lle de Puteaux from 1891-1894 before being shifted to Tennis Club de Paris from 1895-1908. The Mixed Doubles event at Roland Garros first took place in 1902 while the Women’s Doubles started in 1907. The very first edition of the Women’s Singles tournament took place in 1897 with Adine Masson being crowned champion. The winner that year was H Briggs who was British but resided in France. Back then, it was called the French Championships. Known as Championnats Internationaux de France de tennis and Tournoi de Roland-Garros in French (English for the "French International Championships of Tennis" or "Roland Garros Tournament" in short), the tournament began in 1891. The tournament features men’s and women’s singles, men’s, women’s and mixed doubles, as well as junior championships, wheelchair, legends and exhibition events.
